August Musings with Esperanza De La Fuente

Welcome to August musings with Esperanza De La Fuente.

Stylist, model and founder of Wholetalk, a magazine and platform for health and well-being, Esperanza is based in London but was raised in Gran Canaria.
What do you do to feel motivated creatively or otherwise?

My magazine, Wholetalk, keeps me motivated. I launched over a year ago and it is so exciting for me to be working on something that is not related to fashion. I love selecting the themes, doing the re-search, choosing the images and commissioning artists for it.

What’s making you tick right now, is there something new you’ve discovered you can tell us about?

Tennis! I used to play as a child and teenager but didn’t play for maaaaaaany years. I have recently re-discovered my love for it. My friend Chloe and I have recently started meeting on Sundays  to play for an hour and I am so looking forward to it every time.

How do you start your day, what does your morning routine look like?

As soon as I get up I practice oil pulling and have a cup of warm water with lemon. Sexy isn’t ? Haha

What’s your favourite thing about your job? Who or what inspired you to do what you do?

I have been a fashion stylist for over a decade. I love when a project comes in and I get to hang out with friends that I made along the way in the business or when I meet new people with different ideas and views about the world. I feel like I expand and learn from them regardless what the subject is. It is very inspiring. I also love working on my magazine Wholetalk, especially towards the end when the issue is coming so beautifully together and there aren’t any more meltdowns!
What’s most exciting you about the upcoming year?
Well if you ask I’ll be honest….. the most exciting thing is that James (my husband) and I are going on holidays for a few days alone! (We are leaving Lucas, our son, with my parents!) first time since he was born! Haha is it bad to say this?? I LOVE HIM but some time off is so needed

Song that never fails to lift your mood?

Heart of glass by Blondie

What is your favourite possession and the story behind it?

My red vespa. I saw it in a motorbike second hand shop while passing by a few years back and I was sold. It also got stolen once, but I found it back and after some work it was back to life. It was meant to be mine!

If you could visit anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?

Japan! I have never been and I am very curious about their culture, food and design.

And finally...how would you style our navy hand knit?

Winter in London is sooo long I live in warm cosy knitwear - so this cardigan is perfect. My uniform is always a pair of black 501 Levi's, a merino t-shirt and a cardigan.
